This couple’s spooky Halloween elopement is such a good example of embracing your style to make your wedding day super unique! Your elopement day is a reflection of who you are as much as it is a celebration, so why not lean into that? Cynthia and Tyler are both fans of a darker, more gothic aesthetic. Since October is officially spooky season, they picked the perfect time of year to accessorize their wedding with a moody theme.
First look and family ceremony at Otter Point
They started at a lakeside cabin getting ready separately. Cynthia had a black wedding dress (of course!) and lots of black and dark crimson colored details. Probably my favorite detail of theirs was their coffin wedding ring box. I honestly couldn’t think of a more fitting ring box for a spooky Halloween elopement! We even took full advantage of the steamer used to press her dress for some foggy, moody getting ready photos.
Once they were ready, Tyler went separately to the first look location. Before we headed out to meet him, Cynthia had a first look with her dad there on the patio so he could be the first to see her.
We then met Tyler and I set them up for their first look. After some portraits together, we drove down the road to Otter Point, where they’d have a ceremony with friends and family by the cliffs. After some family portraits, they all sat down to a picnic together and just relaxed before we drove on to our next location.
Sunset portraits and fun night photos to fit the theme
The sun was setting fast as we raced up Beech mountain. When we arrived, there was only one other person there – we basically had the whole mountain to ourselves. It was slightly overcast as we took some portraits and waited for the sun to set. Then, it was time for the photos we came for: some dark and moody night photography to match their spooky Halloween elopement theme.
It was a fitting end to their October elopement day, and with a light rain falling, we headed down the mountain and back toward their cabin for the night.
