There are also tons of no-hiking photo locations in Glacier National Park. Although there are miles and miles of backcountry hiking trails, sometimes it’s better to work smarter, not harder! Finding spots for elopement or engagement photos in Glacier is one of those examples.
Here are two ways to find easy access locations right off the road for photos.
Stopping Along Lake Mcdonald
Lake McDonald is the largest in Glacier National Park. It’s 10 miles long with endless points to explore. On still days, it mirrors the surrounding mountains on its crystal clear surface. You don’t need to hike far to access the lake, as all of the northern shore parallels the Going-to-the-Sun road. It’s quiet and still at sunrise, and the alpenglow at sunrise is spectacular.
It’s the perfect place to stop and explore on foot, or take a paddleboard out.
Road Tripping along the “Going to the Sun” road through the park
This isn’t one specific location. Rather, it’s all one massive, no-hiking photo location in Glacier National Park! The Going-to-the-Sun road road is 50 miles of twists, turns and vistas, cutting through the heart of Glacier National Park over a span of 50 miles. It’s an experience all in itself.
Along the route, there are multiple pull offs and lookouts. Each one provides jaw dropping vistas of the park's meadows, glaciers, forests and peaks.
Each of these points along the road counts as a no-hiking photo location in Glacier National Park:
The Loop: famous hairpin turn with views of McDonald Creek and the valley
Haystack Creek: viewpoint with stunning views of Haystack Butte (this one you don’t want to miss!!)
Logan Pass: the highest point on the pass accessible by car. Lots of hikes start from this point, including Hidden Lake Overlook Trail.
Oberlin Bend: a curved section of the road with views of the Garden Wall, Mount Oberlin and Clements Mountain
Big Bend: views of St. Mary Valley
Wild Goose Island Overlook: views of (you guessed it) Wild Goose Island
Sunrift Gorge: views of the Sunrift Gorge and rushing falls
