Finding mindblowing locations for couple’s adventure photos in Iceland is easy. Just drive the Ring Road and stop everytime you see something beautiful! If you want to stay closer to Rykjavik on the south side of Iceland, below are two incredible locations in the same area. One offers lush greenery and a waterfall, and the other a shock of blue glacier lagoon.
Kvernufoss - waterfall Location for Couple’s Adventure Photos in Iceland
Waterfalls make great locations for couple’s adventure photos in Iceland. Green areas can sometimes be hard to find, but the moisture of the waterfalls means vegetation most of the year. The splashing water and mist creates rainbows as soon as the sun comes out. Waterfalls make for fun places to explore, and are ideal backdrops for photos as they offer lots of creative compositions.
Sólheimajökull - glacier lagoon location for couple’s adventure photos in Iceland
For a little diversity in your photo gallery, it’s great to mix up locations during your couples adventure photoshoot. Nearby the Kvernufoss waterfall is a well-known glacier lagoon at the base of the Sólheimajökull glacier.
The glaciers have piercing layers of bright blue and look like another world. Glaciers are awesome locations to add to your couple’s adventure session for this reason. While you shouldn’t walk onto the glacier without an experienced guide, it’s possible to walk right up to the base and view it from below.
About this couple - Chloe and Tyler’s couple’s adventure photos in Iceland
Chloe and Tyler are two east coast high school sweethearts who love travel. They live in Acadia part time, and Chloe is a talented metalsmith - how cool is that??
They booked their couple’s adventure session in Iceland for May of 2023. By the time we met up in Iceland, it was actually their third shoot with me. We met in early 2020 when they reached out to have me photograph their elopement in Olympic National Park, Washington State. We became fast friends, talking about travel and dream trips. By the end of their elopement day, we were joking about meeting up in Iceland someday for round two.
When COVID forced them to cancel their elopement reception at home in Philadelphia, I told them they could transfer their coverage to a future adventure session. That’s when they asked about my travel plans and when I’d be back in Iceland.
Fast forward to 2023, and there we were in Iceland, romping around waterfalls and glacier lagoons together.
Both Chloe and Tyler are so comfortable and carefree in front of the camera. It just goes to show what it’s like working with the same photographer over time, and how that relationship can grow into fun new travel buddies.
Or as Tyler put it to me, “I think I’ve traveled with you more than my own parents!”
