Linville Gorge Elopement in North Carolina

If you want to get married in the mountains, but prefer to avoid crowds, why not consider a North Carolina ElopementLinville Gorge made a perfect backdrop for Grace & Kyle’s Wedding Photography.

Grace & Kyle met in college, and live in Tennessee, but for their elopement they really wanted to be amongst the mountains. The other important thing to them was that they be surrounded by their closest family & friends. Grace put a lot of thought into the details of the day, and it was so nice to have all those beautiful personal touches. Their super sweet North Carolina Elopement just goes to show that you don’t always need to go to a National Park to have a beautiful, adventurous elopement.

NORTH CAROLINA ELOPEMENT

North Carolina Elopement

North Carolina might not be the first place you think of when planning a mountainous elopement. It’s for sure not as popular as elopement destinations like Colorado or Yosemite, but the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains offer some absolutely stunning scenery. Not to mention that it can be easier to find cabins and locations if you’d like to have more of an intimate wedding than a traditional elopement.

For Grace & Kyle’s elopement, we settled on the Linville Gorge, found in the mountains of Western North Carolina. This area is filled with rich pine forests and rugged mountain views, which made a beautiful backdrop for this sweet couple’s wedding photography. Because it was so important that their loved ones be a part of their day, Grace & Kyle found a really cool cabin for their family and friends to stay in. It was so lovely seeing everyone get ready together, and it made for a beautiful atmosphere.

From the cabin, we headed over to a winery where Grace & Kyle were able to take some photos with their friends – sort of like a bridal party! It was really fun, and we stopped off at a pizza food truck on the way. One of the things that I love about elopements and intimate weddings is the ability to really make the most of the day – like stopping for a food truck! From there, we went to their ceremony where they had a first dance and cut their gorgeous cake. Finally, we went for a hike in the mountains that set the backdrop for their ceremony. They had the most beautiful sunset, with golden light coming through and the last of the fall foliage making for a perfect end to their North Carolina Elopement Photography.

Making Your Day Your Own

I’ve mentioned this before, and I’m sure I will again, but I really love that elopements can be totally customized to you and your love. Grace & Kyle’s Linville Gorge Wedding was no different. Her brother had hand-painted some Nike Air Force 1s for her, and she and Kyle had prepared beautiful ring boxes and vow books. Grace had a first look first with her Dad and then with Kyle, before the couple read their vows to each other just the two of them. They kept some traditional elements, like the first dance and the cake cutting, while being so happy to stop at a pizza food truck!

When planning your own elopement, don’t be afraid to picture what would be a perfect day for you and your love. What traditions would you like to keep? What traditions do you not care about? What special elements will add that extra layer to your day? Don’t be afraid to be true to yourself! Your wedding will be all the more special because of it.
