How to Elope in Acadia National Park in the Fall

How to elope in Acadia National Park in the fall, from the perspective of an Acadia Elopement Photographer, featuring Emily & Nick’s beautiful fall elopement.

Emily & Nick decided to Elope to Acadia National Park in October before the weather gets too cold but while the Park is still filled with beautiful fall foliage. These two wanted the best of both worlds, and they pulled it off by planning a day that dedicated time to just the two of them, as well as to celebrating with family & friends. Their day is such an amazing example of all the different things you can pack into an Acadia Elopement, from boat tours to sunset sessions, and private vows to celebrating with your nearest & dearest.

ELOPE IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK IN THE FALL

Can you Get Married in Acadia National Park?

Yes, you can definitely get married in Acadia National Park! Located on Maine’s Atlantic Coast, Acadia is a super special place with ocean views, mountain top hikes, and everything in between.

Getting Legally Married in Acadia National Park

If you want to legally marry in Acadia National Park, you’ll need a Maine marriage license, which you can get from any Town Hall in Maine. Just make sure you have all the right documents (check this list!), and that you’re both present to pick it up. If you like, you can even pick up your marriage license on the same day as your elopement, although I’d recommend picking it up at least a day or two earlier just in case!

From there, you’ll need to find yourself an officiant – you could even consider asking a friend or family member to get ordained to do this for you. Finally, make sure you’ve got your special use permit to get married in Acadia National Park itself (although this might not be necessary if you have less than 10 attendees).

Elopement Locations in Acadia National Park

One of the things I love about National Park elopements is that you don’t have to choose just one location for photos. For an Acadia National Park elopement, you could incorporate a sunrise ceremony by the ocean, portraits by a calm lake, and a sunrise hike to the top of a mountain! That said, here are a few of my favorite Elopement Locations in Acadia National Park.

Cadillac Mountain

Cadillac Mountain is Acadia’s tallest point, and this is actually the first place the sun rises over the continental US! Because of its height, you never really know what kind of weather you’ll find atop Cadillac Mountain. While it could be sunny in the lower areas of the park, you might find rolling fog or wind when you arrive further up. The views area almost always worth it though.

Jordan Pond

Jordan Pond is perfect for that classic Maine scenery, especially in the fall, as it’s surrounded by beautiful woodlands. The calm pond is a nice contrast to the wilder Atlantic Ocean scenery that you’ll find in the coastal parts of the Park.

Little Hunters Beach

If you love the idea of a secluded pebble beach, then let’s head over to Little Hunters Beach. Found on the southeast side of Acadia, this little spot isn’t far from the road and yet it feels super secluded. The woodland almost arrives right to the shore here, which just adds to the magic of this sweet little spot.

Bubble Rock

Once you’ve stopped by Jordan Pond, you may as well continue on to Bubble Rock Trail! Bubble Rock itself is a large granite boulder that seems impossibly perched on the edge of a summit - creating a beautiful, surreal view over Jordan Pond and the woodland of Acadia National Park.

Acadia Elopement Photographer

There is still so much more of Acadia to explore, and if you choose the right Acadia Elopement Photographer, they’ll no doubt be able to help you make the most of it. You could book a boat tour (like Emily & Nick) or hike up Cadillac Mountain or even go kayaking! There are so many options and I’d love to not only document your Acadia Elopement beautifully for you but help you to plan something super special and unique to you.

Are you looking for your own Acadia Elopement Photographer who can help you to Elope in Acadia National Park? I’d love to be that person for you! Just get in touch.
