Hoh Rainforest Adventure Elopement in Olympic National Park
If you’re dreaming of an intimate wedding day surrounded by towering evergreens, lush rainforests, and dramatic coastlines, Olympic National Park is the perfect place to elope. In fact, it’s personally my favorite national park! With diverse landscapes ranging from rugged mountains to mossy rainforests and stunning beaches, this park offers a little bit of everything, and epic versions of everything it offers!
In this blog, I’ll walk you through what makes Olympic National Park an amazing elopement destination while sharing Morgan and Will’s story—a couple who traveled all the way from the Midwest to say their vows in this breathtaking corner of the Pacific Northwest - which also happened to be their first time to the PNW!
Why Elope in Olympic National Park?
Olympic National Park is one of the most diverse and stunning locations in the U.S., offering:
Mountains & Meadows – Unbelievable views from places like Hurricane Ridge.
Hoh + Quinault Rainforests – Lush greenery, moss-covered trees, and secluded trails make for the most magical fairy forests!
Wild Coastlines – Dramatic rock formations, tide pools, and stunning sunsets.
Seclusion & Serenity – With over a million acres of land, it’s easy to find a private spot for your vows!
If you’re looking to combine adventure and natural beauty, this park has it all.
Adventure Elopement in Olympic National Park
Morgan and Will knew they wanted their wedding day to feel intentional, relaxed, and full of adventure. Olympic National Park offered the perfect mix of mountains, rainforest, and ocean, which shaped their day into a beautiful one!
Getting Ready Near Hurricane Ridge
Their day started in a cozy cabin nestled near Hurricane Ridge. They spent the morning taking their time getting ready, enjoying some coffee and getting excited about the rest of the days adventures! Once they were both ready, we did their first look on the back deck of their cabin, where Will had every gals dream reaction, so sweet! After their first look, they enjoyed more coffee (we are in Washington now) and some delicious homemade coffee cake—fueling up for the day!
Vow Exchange in the Olympic Rainforest
From their cabin, we made our way into the park, heading first to the rainforest. After driving down a longgggggg dirt road, we found a secluded trail surrounded by towering moss-covered trees and vibrant ferns. This is one of my favorite locations in the park because of the quiet stillness of the forest. It made for the perfect place as Morgan and Will exchanged their vows, just the two of them in nature. It was an incredibly intimate and special — exactly what they had envisioned for their wedding day!
Sunset Elopement on Ruby Beach
After soaking in the magic of the rainforest, we journeyed to the coast to catch the sunset. The rugged shoreline, sea stacks, and endless miles of beach felt like a classic Pacific Northwest backdrop for their portraits. As the sun dipped below the horizon, they celebrated with a bottle of champagne, and soaking it all in. After running all around the beach, we spend the last few minutes of light watching the sun dip below the horizon.
How to Plan Your Own Olympic National Park Elopement
If Morgan and Will’s elopement has inspired you, here are some things to consider when planning your own adventure!
1. Choose Your Season
Spring & Summer – Best for wildflowers, long daylight hours, and warmer weather.
Fall – Gorgeous autumn colors, fewer crowds, and crisp air.
Winter – Quiet, moody, and often snow-covered in higher elevations.
Personally, I think the absolute best time for an elopement in Olympic National Park is August + September!
2. Pick Your Ceremony Location
Hurricane Ridge for mountain views
Hoh or Quinault Rainforest for lush greenery
Ruby Beach or Rialto Beach for stunning coastal scenery
3. Get the Necessary Permits
Depending on the details of your elopement, you might need a special use permit to elope in Olympic National Park. Be sure to check with the National Park Service for the most up-to-date requirements.
4. Work with an Experienced Photographer
Having a photographer who knows the park well will make all the difference in capturing your adventure while helping you navigate the best locations and times for photos!
