Destination Wedding with Family in Alaska
After an adrenaline-filled day of helicopter adventures on day one of their Alaska elopement (check that out here!!), Amanda and Zane’s second day of elopement celebrations in Seward, Alaska, brought a new kind of magic—one filled with meaningful moments shared with loved ones and the peaceful beauty of Fox Island. Their destination wedding in Alaska was such a fun way to share their favorite place with their family.
Destination Wedding in Seward Alaska
The day began at a cozy lodge tucked within Seward’s lush surroundings, where Amanda and Zane prepared for their second day of adventure. The lodge set a relaxed and intimate tone which was the perfect way for them to start day 2 of their destination wedding.
Once Amanda + Zane were dressed and ready to go, we set them up for a first look outside of the lodge. Their joy was palpable and it was clear that they were both ready for the unforgettable day ahead.
Wedding on Fox Island, Alaska
After their first look, Amanda and Zane boarded a private boat that would take them to the shores of Fox Island. The journey across Resurrection Bay was breathtaking and such a great way to make their way to their ceremony location. Even a few glimpses of wildlife added to the experience! We were really worried about the forecast as it looked like it might rain, but the elopement fairies came out to play and held off the rain - even giving us some sunshine in time for their ceremony!
Boating to Fox Island
Once they arrived on Fox Island, Amanda and Zane were greeted by its beauty and solitude. We had the island entirely to ourselves for an hour—a rare and special opportunity to explore its rocky shores, breathe in the salty air, and simply be together in the moment. We took a few photos and finalized their ceremony location while we waited for their family to make their way over, also via boat.
Getting married on Fox Island was Zanes idea, as he had been to the island on a day trip from Seward 10 years ago. It was so sweet for him to be back, 10 years later, marrying his girl!
Ceremony on Fox Island with Family
As the sun came out (yay!!), Amanda and Zane’s family arrived on the island, adding a new layer of warmth to the day. On the shores of Fox Island, with the waters of Resurrection Bay as their backdrop, the A+Z started their ceremony and shared vows with each other overlooking the scene in front of them. Having their families and all of their favorite people surrounding them made it all the more special.
Family Photos and Cocktail Hour
Following the ceremony, we took some time to take some family photos. How often are you dressed up, looking your best, on an Alaskan island?!
Next came a laid-back cocktail hour, where everyone enjoyed drinks and bites while soaking in the island’s beauty. Stories were shared, toasts were made, and Amanda and Zane soaked up every moment of celebrating their marriage with their families.
A Sunset Boat Ride Return
As the sun began its descent, the group boarded the boat and made their way back to Seward. I snagged A + Z for a few moments of quiet out on the dock, taking in the views of the bay and taking in the grandeur of the environment around us,.
Back at the lodge, Amanda and Zane were treated to a beautifully styled dinner with their family. The intimate setup, complete with beautiful table décor and candlelight, created the perfect cozy atmosphere. After dinner, they headed outside to a covered pavilion, where they shared their first dance as husband and wife, followed by dances with their parents, and of course, cake cutting!!
