Destination Wedding Maui with Sunset Sailing Cruise

Part two of Bailey & Nathan’s Intimate Maui Wedding Photography, featuring a beautiful Hawaiian wedding ceremony and a dance party on a catamaran! Their day was truly a Unique Hawaiian Elopement.

Bailey & Nathan’s unique Hawaiian Elopement began with a sunrise session on a red sand beach and spontaneous wedding day tattoos (in case you missed it – check out Part 1 here). It was hard to believe that day could get any better, and yet, here we are! After a short break to rest, shower and change, we met for their beautiful Hawaiian wedding ceremony, followed by an epic party on a catamaran with their closest family and friends.

INTIMATE MAUI WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Intimate Maui Wedding Photography

For their wedding celebration, Bailey & Nathan really made the best of both worlds with an adventure elopement style morning, and an intimate wedding celebration in the afternoon. They wanted to celebrate with their closest family and friends while still going on an adventure and making the most of everything Maui has to offer.

Splitting your wedding day into two parts can be a really great way to create that divide and incorporate all the elements you’d like into your day – especially if you’re torn between a sunrise session or partying into the night! After waking up at 3am to drive along the Road to Hāna, having a little break in the middle of the day also meant they could recharge and be ready to make the most of their Intimate Maui Wedding Photography with family and friends!

Unique Hawaiian Elopement

From tattoos to Catamarans, it’s impossible to deny that this was a truly Unique Hawaiian Elopement. If you’re planning your own elopement or intimate wedding, and you’d like to create something unique, my best advice is to stay true to yourself. But also, don’t be afraid to throw wedding traditions out the window!

Don’t start planning by thinking ‘what would our perfect wedding look like?’ Instead, ask yourself what your perfect day would look like. Where would you be? What would you eat? What kind of adventures would you get up to? Then build your plans for the day from there.

And of course, it always helps if you arrive with an open mind. After all, Bailey & Nathan hadn’t planned on getting tattoos on their wedding day! They had planned to go cliff jumping but when that didn’t work out, they rolled with it and we found them a super cool alternative!

Incorporating Hawaiian Wedding Traditions

If you choose to get married in Hawaii, you can choose to have either a traditional Hawaiian wedding ceremony, a western style ceremony, or a ceremony that’s a combination of both. Bailey & Nathan wanted to honor the island by incorporating Hawaiian Wedding Traditions into their ceremony, and it was incredibly special.

Their officiant blew the Pu, or the conch shell, to announce Bailey’s arrival, a Hawaiian wedding tradition that, in Maui, is used to announce a special occasion to the world. Their officiant also had flower Lei’s for both Bailey & Nathan, and their parents. In Hawaii, Leis are used for every happy occasion and they symbolize the Joy of Life.

Catamaran Wedding Reception in Maui

After making it official in their beautiful Maui Wedding Ceremony, Bailey, Nathan and their guests got ready to jump on a catamaran for their reception. It was so beautiful to be out on the water and to see Maui from a different perspective. Bailey & Nathan’s closest friends and family had all flown to Maui from Texas, and the holiday mood shone through. They had drinks and dinner, speeches and a first dance as part of their Catamaran Wedding Reception in Maui. By the end, everyone was getting a little wild and it turned into a crazy dance party! Their friends and family were so much like them, and everyone was just eager to have a great time. There was so much love and it was truly a joy to be a part of.
