Beech Mountain Sunset Hike Elopement in Acadia National Park

Aleece and Tyler opted for an elopement in Acadia National Park among stunning fall colors, especially on their sunset hike to Beech Mountain. For the two of them it was something like a second chance. They originally planned to get married in 2020, but well, you know the rest.

Officially, they tied the legal knot on the fourth of July that summer, surrounded by friends. Still, they knew they wanted something that felt a bit more celebratory; something not overshadowed by the pandemic.

They settled on a crisp, coastal sunset elopement in Maine just as the leaves were changing!

Their elopement day activities:

  • Getting ready at Terramor

  • First look with family

  • First look with each other

  • Cliffside vows

  • Luxury picnic

  • Short sunset hike and blue hour portraits

Their day began at Terramor Outdoor Resort, a beautiful glamping area in Acadia National Park. Aleece got ready in one of the luxury canvas tents with the help of her mother. Before finding Tyler, we did a first look with the parents to capture their reactions.

The park was busy that day as we arrived at Park Loop Road, but I knew a spot that would hopefully be less busy. We lucked out. The rest of the area was the busiest I’d ever seen it, but this spot along the water was secluded and empty.

We found the perfect spot for them to stand, with Otter Cliffs behind them and the ocean lightly crashing on the rocks around them. Here, they read their vows in solitude. It was private, calm and close to nature - just like they wanted.

From there, we headed to further into the park and into a quieter area. Here, Tabitha from Luxury Picnics Acadia had set up a quaint, fall themed picnic for them on the rocks. It was the perfect break before heading up Beech Mountain, one of my absolute favorite spots in the park.

With the higher elevation, it is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down in the park. And on this day, you couldn’t ask for better conditions for a sunset elopement in Maine. It was a golden evening, without a cloud in the sky and leaves changing in every direction.

We soaked up every golden ray, and explored long into blue hour. The day ended with a twilight hike back to the car, accented by lanterns Terramor had let us borrow.
