Mt. Baker Elopement Photography with Accessible North Cascades Wedding Locations

Victoria & Anthony’s beautiful, rainy day Mt. Baker Elopement Photography, featuring some information about Accessible North Cascades Wedding Locations.

It’s always a good sign when I arrive to find a couple just super excited and happy about their day, even when it’s forecast to rain and the cloud cover is definitely going to cause a last-minute change of plans. This was exactly the situation when I arrived at Victoria & Anthony’s Airbnb near the North Cascades National Park, where they were getting ready in separate rooms. They both told me, ‘It’s fine! We love the rain!’ and so we powered on through. It was a really beautiful day filled with sweet, intentional details, including a list of Accessible North Cascades Elopement Locations.

Mt. Baker Elopement Photography

Victoria & Anthony are Washington State locals, living just outside of Seattle, and they absolutely love the surrounding mountains. For them, it was an easy decision to plan a Mt. Baker Elopement. The Mt. Baker Wilderness shares borders with both the North Cascades National Park and Canada, and is home to some seriously epic scenery, from glaciers to alpine meadows to fir forests and of course, Mt. Baker itself!

Planning Mt. Baker Elopement Photography is fairly simple – you just need to of course follow the Washington State Wedding Requirements and apply for any relevant wilderness area/National Park permits. You’ll need to apply for your marriage license three days in advance, and have your ceremony attended by an officiant as well as two witnesses who are at least 12 years of age. If you’d love to elope just the two of you though, you can always take care of the legal side of things on a different day. As for the permits, I’m more than happy to help you decipher those if you book me in as your photographer!

It can be hard knowing how to plan an adventure elopement or intimate wedding if someone you know is differently-abled. Victoria’s Mom uses a wheelchair, and it was really important to Victoria & Anthony that she was able to attend their wedding. Thankfully, the National Park Service usually has lists available of accessible trails in all parks and information about the trail surface and accessibility index.

The two most accessible trails at North Cascades are:

  1. The Sterling Munro Trail

  2. The Happy Creek Forest Walk

Both of these trails are boardwalk paths that are fully accessible.

That said, if you’re looking for something a little wilder for your Accessible North Cascades Wedding Location, I’d recommend looking into some of the base areas of the trails, like Victoria & Anthony did. They chose a trail that they loved for their portraits, and met the guests for their intimate ceremony at the base of the trail afterwards. It was a beautiful way to be inclusive and make the most of their day.
